You might have to restart but every program now outputs that instead of out of whatever else you use. Here click, on the Tascam unit and choose "Select as Default Device". If you want to do this, right click on the "Speaker" icon at the bottom right and choose "Playback Devices". If you decide to plug the Tascam in so it comes out of speakers, you can make it so every program, game, film, etc, uses the Tascam device. If the latency is too low you'll get crackling as the it's trying to play the tracks back with effects too quickly for it to handle. If the latency is too high you'll have to adjust the recordings to get them in time after you've recorded. It should come up with a file suggestion from your start menu and you open that and tweak it. Easiest way to do this is to push the Windows Key on your keyboard and type "Tascam". That's pretty much it - To record make sure you "arm" the track you're recording onto and I tend to click the "Record Monitoring" button above the recording button so I can hear it back at the same time (but that's because I'm directly inputting the guitar and not using a mic - You might want to turn that off or channel the output through headphones to avoid the microphone picking up the output).įinal things to be aware of - Tascam devices usually have a program it installs when you install the drivers, you may need to go in the program and adjust the Latency. Click "Options", "Preferences" and choose "Device" in Audio.
I know people are saying use ASIO4ALL but if you're recording with a microphone you might find this isn't the best option - From my experience, ASIO4ALL is good for playback but you might get problems trying to record into it.
